You have the opportunity to participate in the Science Expo for 2013! This year’s date is: March 26th. It’s the 14th Anniversary for the EXPO! You saw all the important dates on the paper that the kids brought home in December.
Science Expo can be one of the most exciting parts of the school year. It provides students with an opportunity to explore the mysteries and marvels of the world in which they live. It also helps them develop an appreciation for the work of scientists!
The Expo Committee would like to help you and your child be successful and feel good about science. We will be having informational meetings regarding the Expo and how you can participate. We are offering meetings at two different schools. Choose the time that is best for your family: January 15th from 6:30 to 7:30 at St. Joseph or at York Elementary and at YES on January 17th from 6 – 7:30 or Feb. 26th, from 6 – 7:30. Help night is also at YES on March 12th, from 6 – 8.
At the Informational Meetings we will have ideas and resources. Also, have your child start thinking about things in life that he or she would like to know more about or which product is better than another product! The guideline packets will get you off to a great start! A great resource is the Science Buddies website.
The Expo is open to all K-5 students. We require a project from the St. Joseph 4th & 5th Graders. In class, we will explain how to put a project together but 99% of the work is done at home. Packets will be going home this week for those interested (and all the 4th & 5th graders).
Thanks for your help and commitment to your child!
The St. Joseph Committee,
Mrs. Kunze and Mrs. Quinlan
